Dr. Chih‑Yuan Lu Establishes Yu Hsuan Young Distinguished Professorship to Cultivate Next‑Gen Talent

Ardentec Chairman Chih‑Yuan Lu has donated funds to establish the “Yu Hsuan Young Distinguished Professorship,” aimed at supporting outstanding young scholars at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) and fostering future leaders for Taiwan’s semiconductor and high‑technology industries.
Chairman Lu said emotionally that his parents shared a deep and longstanding bond with NYCU. In honor of their memory, he chose to establish the endowed professorship in their name. While commemorating his parents, Lu also hopes the initiative will serve as a driving force for Taiwan’s higher‑education research ecosystem, allowing academic seeds to take root and flourish in a nurturing environment.

Recognizing that talent is the sole key to industrial advancement, Chairman Lu noted that, unlike traditional awards primarily targeting senior scholars, the Yu Hsuan Young Distinguished Professorship focuses specifically on exceptional early‑career professors at NYCU. The program provides substantial research funding and incentives to help young faculty members at a critical stage of their careers build stable foundations for conducting original and high‑impact basic or applied research.
Lu further expressed his hope that, beyond recognizing outstanding research achievements by young professors, the professorship will also help attract top scholars from Taiwan and abroad to join the university, collectively ushering in a new era for Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.

NYCU President Chi‑Hung Lin, in his remarks, expressed deep appreciation for Chairman Lu’s longstanding support and commitment to the university. He noted that young scholars often face daunting challenges at the outset of their research careers, and that this meaningful contribution and shared legacy will serve as a vital source of encouragement and strength for emerging faculty members.
